Hacker

Ted Dekker is a New York Times best-selling author with more than six million books in print.  His upbringing as the child of missionaries who lied among the headhunter tribes of Indonesia gies him a unique perspective outside the cultural bubble, enabling him to craft provocative insights, unforgettable charaters and adrenaline-laced plots in his fiction.  Two of his forty-plus novels, Thr3e and House, have been made into feature films.

Dekker resides in Texas with his wife and children.  Find him at www.TedDekker.com and Facebook.com/TedDekker.

"My name is Nyah and I'm a hacker.  I know things most people would never believe.  Things that shouldn't exist, but do."

Seventeen-year-old Nyah Parks is a genius hacke who makes a living by cracking the firewalls of the world's largest corporations.  But when the biggest job of her life goes wrong, she's plunged into a desperate situation with only one way out: one last hack that will either save her or kill her.

So begins Hacker a modern-day parable that examines the staggering world around us - the seen and the unseen - and reminds us that there's far more to who we are than meets the eye.

My Thoughts:
Hacker is the third installment in Dekker's Outlaw Chronicles.  The previous books to this one are Eyes Wide Open and Water Walker.  Dekker is a genius storyteller who writes thrilling page turners that keep you on the edge of your seat and turning the pages.  Sometimes I'm not sure I've taken a breath until I've reached the end of a chapter; then, I take a big gulp and keep on reading!
Dekker's theme and subject matter in Hacker is current, authentic and makes you think.  Nyah's journey provides the backdrop for the evaluation of oneself, the intricacies of the world around us and the depth of both good and evil in our world.  This is certainly an adrenaline rush full of characters and a story you won't soon forget!
Dekker's motivation for his writing is to connect with readers the truth of the good news of Jesus Christ through his stories.  The following interview (about 12 minutes) really was encouraging for me to hear Dekker's heart.  I think you'll be encouraged too and like me want to run to the nearest bookstore and buy everything he's written!

*I was given a complimentary copy of the book for the purpose of this review by Leeanna Case (First Look Blog Tour Coordinator).

Happy Reading,
Jennifer
