About the book:

If I Run (Zondervan, February 2016)

Casey knows the truth. But it won't set her free.

Casey Cox's DNA is all over the crime scene. There's no use talking to police; they have failed her abysmally before. She has to flee before she's arrested . . . or worse. The truth doesn't matter anymore.

But what is the truth? That's the question haunting Dylan Roberts, the war-weary veteran hired to find Casey. PTSD has marked him damaged goods, but bringing Casey back can redeem him. Though the crime scene seems to tell the whole story, details of the murder aren't adding up. Casey Cox doesn't fit the profile of a killer. But are Dylan's skewed perceptions keeping him from being objective? If she isn't guilty, why did she run?

Unraveling her past and the evidence that condemns her will take more time than he has, but as Dylan's damaged soul intersects with hers, he is faced with two choices. The girl who occupies his every thought is a psychopathic killer . . . or a selfless hero. And the truth could be the most deadly weapon yet.

My Thoughts:
I have to say that I have read other books by Blackstock and have just not been able to connect well with them.  With that said, I was highly intrigued by the synopsis of this book and wanted to give Blackstock's writing another chance.  I am so very glad I did!  If I Run is such a well written book with an intricately woven plot that will run throughout the series of three books.
Blackstock literally drops the reader in the middle of Casey's life.  I was immediately drawn to her character.  Blackstock does an exceptional job of giving bits of Casey's backstory along the way which helps explain some of Casey's actions and helps readers to understand some of what she is feeling along the way.
I appreciated hearing the story from both Casey and Dylan's perspectives in first person point of view.  The cast of characters in If I Run are well-developed and have a genuine feel to them that draws readers in easily.  I became emotionally invested in this story early in and can not wait to see where Casey's journey leads her next.  The next installment in this series can't come fast enough!

*I received a complimentary copy of the book from the publisher in exchange for this review.  A positive review was not expected and I was not compensated in any other way.  All opinions are my own.
