Kim has a beautiful website, Kim Vogel Sawyer: Gentle Stories of Hope, which can be found at www.kimvogelsawyer.com. At the website, she has this to say about her writing: "As an author of inspirational Christian fiction, it is my goal to create stories that will edify God's children and offer evidence of the hope we can all possess when we place our hearts and souls in God's very capable hands."

A Story of Hope and Love Set Against the Backdrop of World War II
Lydia Eldredge longs to provide sanctuary for her young son, Nicky. But a constant threat comes from Nicky’s drug-addicted father, who wants the boy and seems willing to do whatever it takes to get him.
Dr. Micah Hatcher faithfully serves the immigrant population of Queens, New York. But under cover of darkness, he has a secret mission that challenges everything he thought he wanted out of life.
When Lydia and Micah’s paths cross, they are suddenly wrapped up in each other’s callings. Together, they seek a refuge of safety–for Nicky, for themselves, and for the needy people God puts into their lives. Amid turmoil and discord, can hope and love prevail?

My Thoughts About The Book:
While historical fiction has not typically been my favorite genre to read, I found Sawyer to be a gifted storyteller. She captures the WWII era well. I liked that she allows her readers to hear from each of the main voices in the book, including the nemesis Nic. I felt this added a depth to the story. Sweet Sanctuary is a story that moves slow at times with parts that seem a little too neat and tidy, but Sawyer very skillfully weaved enough mystery/suspense that it kept me reading. I immediately fell in love with Nicky and while I wasn't sure about Micah in the beginning, Nicky's title for him - "Micah-my friend" - fits him well as a rescuer of many in this story.
